DOYLE, F. Guy - November 12, 1938 -
With great sadness, the family of Guy Doyle announces his passing on Sunday, July 18th, 2010, surrounded by family after a long and valiant struggle with Parkinson's disease and associated illnesses.
He is survived by his loving wife and best friend Sandra (nee Gray) and his four children - Stephen (Mary), Elaine (Bill), Susan (Glenn) and Kelly (Randy). He will be greatly missed by his treasured grandchildren Melissa, Spencer, William, Kyle, Rebecca, Stefana, Valerie, Sean, Megan and James.
Born in Chicoutimi, QC, the son of the late Walter and Irene (nee Lajoie) Doyle of Alma, QC, he is survived by his brother William and sisters Helen and Isabel. He was predeceased by his brother Ralph and his sister Vivian.
A graduate of St. Francis Xavier University, Guy went on to study at the Nova Scotia Technical College in Halifax, the city where he met and married his adoring wife Sandy. After marrying, the couple settled in Montreal where Guy had a long and successful career working, most notably for Leeds and Nothrup, Sandwell and Cowan-Lavalin.
After being diagnosed with Parkinson's disease, he continued to work as a Consultant to various companies before illness forced his early retirement. Guy was a proud member of the Order of Engineers of Quebec and Ontario as well as past-president of ISA (Instrument Society of America). In his spare time he enjoyed sailing, camping, golfing and travel. He volunteered as a scout leader, minor baseball coach and sailing instructor.
The family would like to acknowledge the helpful staff and the Montreal Jewish General Hospital and a special thank you to all of Guy's friends at the Henri-Bradet Day Center.
Family will receive condolences on Saturday July 24 from 10:30 A.M. to 12: 30 P.M. at St Ignatius of Loyola Parish, 4455 West Broadway, Notre-Dame-de-Grace, followed by the Funeral Mass at 1:00 pm, and by a reception in the parish lounge.
