BRIDGEMAN (nee Rassenti), Angelina

Passed away peacefully surrounded by her family, on the evening of March 7, five days shy of her 96th birthday. Angie was predeceased by Philip, her beloved husband of 66 years, and brothers Johnny, Nicky, Sandy and Meo. She is survived by her younger sister Rita, and her six children and their spouses: Phil (Maureen), Jimmy (Susan), Johnny (Jocelyn), Bobby (Cathy), Leta (Stephen), Cara (Louis), as well as fifteen grandchildren, and one great grandchild.

Angie grew up in NDG, and met Dad at a post-war YMCA dance when she served him a cup of coffee – with her thumb inside! They married in 1948 and were constant companions, expressing their mutual love every day.

Mom was a dedicated mother, an exceptional cook, talented artist, expert gardener, and a late-blooming athlete. Even though raising six children was a fulltime job, Mom volunteered for Meals on Wheels and every summer still had time to create a garden that was the envy of our neighborhood. Mom decided to learn to swim late in life and within a few years was competing and winning many events for her age group. She swam endless laps at the pool in Montreal West, and at the condo in Pompano Beach, where she and Dad made many life-long friends. Our home on Campbell Avenue and cottage at Lake Capri were always busy centers of activity, and Mom made sure that everyone was welcome with her loving generosity. She was also the best Grandma ever to her many grandkids who she deeply adored.

Mom was warm, charming and down-to earth and loved by all who knew her. She truly was our “matriarch”, and will be deeply missed by all of her children, grandchildren, and very large extended family and friends.

Special thanks to Chona for her loving care of both Mom and Dad over the past seven years.

A memorial service will take place at Kane & Fetterly, 5301 Decarie Blvd. (corner Isabella) on Tuesday March 13, 2018 at 5 PM. The family will receive condolences 2 hours prior to the service, beginning at 3PM.
