SCHWARTZ, Eli
MONTREAL – Dr. Eli (e) Schwartz, 82, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family in Montreal, Thursday May 24, 2018. Born in Romania, raised in Israel, Montreal has been his home since 1963.
He will be deeply missed by his wife Linda Furlini and her family; his children Aileen, Tarah and Warren Schwartz; his sons-in-law Farooq Ali and Enrico Caouette; his grandchildren Sarah-Ella and Kalilah Ali, and Sam Caouette; and his first wife Elizabeth Dowling Schwartz. He will also be missed by his many friends, students, and extended family both here and abroad.
Eli will be remembered for his extraordinary mind, his quick wit and humour, and his mischievous love of life. After retiring as Director General from Constance-Lethbridge Rehabilitation Center, he started a new career as an expert on the history of religion. He loved to discuss, debate and continue learning with his peers at the McGill Community for Lifelong Learning.
A memorial service will be held at 11 am Friday June 1, 2018 at Kane Fetterly at 5301 Decarie Boulevard. The family will be there as of 10 am, and the service will be followed by a reception. In lieu of flowers, his family would appreciate donations to the McGill Community for Lifelong Learning in his name.
