DEWAR, James
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of James Dewar on January 24, 2016, at the Institut de geriatrie de Montreal, after a lengthy illness. He was 70 years old. James was born in Bequia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, on November 25, 1945. He was the fourth child, only son, of Irwin Dewar and Virginia Ollivierre.
Adventurous and ambitious, James immigrated to Montreal at the age of 21. He loved working with his hands and it was obvious in everything he did - from his long career as a sewing machine mechanic, to his constant projects, he was always building or renovating something during his free time. He loved the outdoors, learning about new things, and most of all sharing his greatest passion: cooking for those he cared for the most. His infectious laugh and sense of humour will be greatly missed.
He leaves behind: his former spouse and good friend, Gaetane Blais, and their children, Patrick, Virginia (Brian), and Vanessa (Gabriel); his former spouse Mary Loureiro and their son Nikolas; and his son Trevor and his family. He is also survived by his two grandsons, Asher and Nathaniel, and many other family and friends. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his three sisters, Carmina, Alda, and Gwentylan.
A ceremony will be held at Kane and Fetterly at 2 p.m. on January 31st, 2016.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Montreal Neurological Institute.
