Elizabeth Sarah Beaumont
Elizabeth “Betty” Beaumont: June 10 1914, Cookshire, Québec – March 1 2015 at St. Margaret’s Residence, Westmount, Québec. Daughter of the late John Henry Beaumont and the late Edith Housden, both of whom had emigrated from the UK over 100 years ago and settled in the Eastern Townships. Pre-deceased by sisters Barbara (Hector Gagné) and Diana. Survived by many cousins in the UK, fondly remembered by countless friends and former colleagues in Canada.
Betty had proudly served as a WREN (Royal Canadian Navy) during the Second World War. Years later she joined Trans-Canada Airlines, precursor to Air Canada, retiring in 1975 with over 21 years’ service at the maintenance base in Dorval. Employee privileges allowed her to enjoy several vacations across Canada, to distant lands and frequent trips to visit relatives in the UK. In her later years, she bravely put up with the extreme limitations of Guillain-Barré syndrome. Betty was consistently grateful for the excellent care provided during her entire 6½ year stay at St. Margaret’s.
A brief private service of prayer will be held. Interment in the family plot in Cookshire after spring thaw.
