General information about pre-arranged funerals
Everyday we see how difficult it is for a family to face the loss of a loved one. The experience becomes more stressful when there is no prearrangement because dozens of decisions have to be made in a very short time.
What does pre-arranging mean?
Prearranging a funeral means planning funeral details for yourself or a person you are responsible for.
- some people choose to plan all the details in advance;
- others prefer to make basic choices, leaving some options for their family;
- a growing number of people choose to prepay for all services, thus sparing their families from all financial burden and any difficult decisions at the time of their passing.
My wishes are already in my will. Why should I prearrange?
Many people put their funeral wishes in their will. The problem is that the will may not be readily accessible immediately after the death, or it may be read after the funeral depending on circumstances.
Under the Quebec government’s Act respecting prearranged funeral services, a prearrangement is kept on file at the funeral home and with a third party unless otherwise specified. This makes your wishes clear and easy to access as soon as they are needed.
Do I necessarily have to prepay to make a prearrangement?
No. There is no obligation to prepay, although many families choose to do so. For more information please contact us.
May I cancel my prearrangement?
You may cancel your prearrangement, have it transferred to any other funeral home, or have your payment refunded in full at any time.
Unlike other funeral homes, it is our policy to return 100% of the monies since we do not withheld any administration fee in the event of cancellation.
