DICKSON, ARTHUR
Art’s life came full circle on Thursday, April 25, 2019. Born at the Catherine Booth Hospital January 24, 1932, he died next door at the Montclair Residence 87 years later.
Art is now reunited with his beloved wife and best friend, Joan. He was a loving father to the late Linda (Bill Harrison), Angela (Mark Rose) and Jennifer (Justin Mizzi). He was a proud Papa to Brody, Michael and Owen, brother-in-law to Mark Cassin (Caroline Taylor) and uncle to Christopher and Gillian. His cousin Gilbert Rhicard (Connie) helped him keep ties to the Eastern Townships.
Art had three loves in his life: family, music and the great Highland bagpipe. He was the downtown Ogilvy’s piper from 1974 to 1989 and filled in on many occasions until 2007. He played in several pipe bands in Montreal over the years, notably the Black Watch (RHR) of Canada Pipe Band and the 306 Maple Leaf Wing Pipe Band.
A team of people took excellent care of Art during the last three and a half years. Special thanks to the caring staff at the Montclair Residence, to physiotherapist Jamie London, who kept Art in great shape almost to the end, and Lana Henderson who was Art’s “partner in crime” and took care of his every need.
Funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Monica’s Parish, 6405 de Terrebonne Avenue in NDG on Wednesday, May 8 at 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Salvation Army Montclair Residence (4413, Montclair Avenue, Montreal, QC, H4B 2J4).
