It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Melissa Elizabeth Knock at the age of 52 on July 17th, 2019 in Montreal, Quebec. Born in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, she was the daughter of the late Sharon Emeneau and Charles Knock. She is survived by her beloved spouse and the love of her life Christopher David Foote, loving sisters Vanessa, Amherst, Felicia (Clifton Zwicker), Bayport, and cherished nephew Quentin, Amherst, Nova Scotia.
Melissa arrived in Montreal to pursue a degree in Music, Honours in Pipe Organ Performance, at McGill University. She started her pipe organ career, in her childhood, at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Middle LaHave, Nova Scotia. Once she moved to Montreal she enjoyed her time spent as an organist at Briarwood Presbyterian Church in Beaconsfield and the First Baptist Church on Cote St-Luc Rd.
She spent the majority of her career at McGill University and most recently Concordia University. Truly loved by the people she worked with, and those she met, she had a special way of connecting with everyone. She was a lover of music, travel and enjoyed attending performances of the Montreal Ballet.
Our family would like to extend our gratitude to her colleagues at McGill and Concordia University. Most importantly, we wish to thank her dearest friends Beverly Redmond and Toby Cape who were an inspiration and support during their friendship. Thank you to all the doctors and nurses at the CHUM for their excellent care and compassion.
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, August 17th from 1:30 pm to 4:30 pm at the Kane Fetterly Funeral Home, 5301 Decarie Blvd. (corner Isabella). A memorial tribute will take place at 3:00 pm. A graveside committal service will be held at a later date at Lakeview Cemetery, Lower Kingsburg, Nova Scotia.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the N.D.G. Food Depot or a charity of your choice.

I was so saddened to hear of Melissa's passing. She was only here at the Political Science dept. for a very short time but she already left a profound impression on me with her kind and generous personality. She always had time to ask about the family or share a comment on the affairs of the day. I will miss her terribly and can only imagine how profound that loss will be to those who knew her well.

It is with much sadness that I heard of Melissa's passing. I sadly did not get the chance to know her very well, but within the short time that I got to work with her at Concordia I felt her kind heart and sincerity was admirable. She brought such a lightness to an otherwise bleak office. Her laugh always resonated through the halls, and was always friendly. She will be dearly missed.

My sincerest condolences go out to her husband Chris and her loved ones.
