Robinson, Margaret (née Kearney)
1927-2020
Known to, and loved by so many as Auntie Peggy, she has left this life to be reunited with family and friends. Peggy passed very peacefully with Ciaran and Marjie holding her hand, gently singing Molly Malone to her, on May 6 2020 at 6 pm.
Beloved wife to the late George (Geordie) Philip Robinson. Mother to the late Maire. Sister to Frank, Jack and Betty Kearney. Godmother to Lesley Winter. Aunt to the Kearney nephews and niece: Peter, Paul, John and Claire. Aunt to Jan, Ciaran, Lesley and Sean of the Winter clan, to Rowan, Kyla, Conor, Maeve, Declan, Namthip, Isabelle, Karil, Nola , Esme and dear friend to so, so many.
Born in Dublin, Ireland, October 24th 1927, Peggy, like many Irish people before her, emigrated to Canada in the mid 1950s. Montreal was Peggy’s home but she never forgot she was a proud ‘Dub’ who visited Dublin and the Kearney family regularly. A lover of stories, music and the ‘craic’, Peggy more than held her own against the loving tidal wave of folklore and stories of her husband Geordie’s family, who came from Holywood, Co Down. A loving wife, lifelong gardener, cook and collector of old Irish books, Peggy was ‘auntie” to the Winter family’s many nieces and nephews and their various boyfriends, girlfriends and partners. She will be the centre of fond memories and tall tales for many years to come.
Our heartfelt thanks to the wonderful nurses and helpers at the Montclair Residence in her final year or so. We thank everyone there who cared for her with special mention of Barb with whom Peggy had formed a close friendship. In her memory, donations to the Cancer society would appreciated.
