Life celebration

at a later date

Stone, Jim

December 13, 1947-September 1, 2020

It is with great sadness we announce Jim’s death after a long struggle with chronic illness. He left behind to mourn his wife Mary Rutherford, daughters Janelle and Rosie, his sister Lin(Marcus Martin) and brother Chris (Wendy), Dusty, his beloved companion, and friends and family here and around the world.

Jim lived his life with a great sense of adventure and enthusiasm. He immigrated to Canada at the age of nine and often said one of his proudest moments was when he became a Canadian citizen. He loved travel, especially the many bike trips he took with his friends and his trips to Florida where he reunited with friends and family. Over the course of his life he pursued a variety of passions from model trains to kiting. After a career at a local dairy, he retired and dedicated himself to taking care of his family, cooking many wonderful meals to be shared with family and friends, chauffeuring his daughters wherever they needed to go, and teaching Dusty new things. He faced many health challenges in his later years with courage and resolve.

We would like to express our deepest thanks to the staff of St. Mary’s especially the dialysis team who took care of him with such patience and dedication.
Due to corona virus a celebration of his life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers a donations to St, Mary’s Hospital (http://stmaryshospitalfoundation.ca/  or   St. Mary’s Hospital Foundation, 3830 Lacombe Avenue, Mtl., H3T 1M5) are welcome.
