In memory of Nazzareno Carlini

(July 6, 1943 – February 23, 2021)

Nazzareno Carlini, 77, died peacefully on February 23, 2021, in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. He was able to live at home in his final years, surrounded by his family members who cared for him, while he endured a long, debilitating illness related to Parkinson’s Disease.

Nazzareno was born in Matera, Italy on July 6, 1943 and is predeceased by his parents, Ester & Giovanni Carlini, younger sisters Francesca and Luigina, and youngest brother Gianfranco. He is survived by his spouse, Ana Maria Servello, his four children Gino, Rina (Tony DeLuca), Nazzareno Jr. (Aster Tsegay) and Claudia, and his three grandchildren Julia and Jason DeLuca (from Rina and Tony) and Joseph Carlini (from Nazzareno Jr. and Aster). Many other immediate family members will miss him greatly – four sisters-in-law, three brothers-in-law, eight nephews and nieces, and the mother of his children, Nina Caradonna. Nazzareno is survived by many first and second cousins who will cherish memories of a man who always had a huge smile, a helping hand, and social time to share over cappuccino.

His family extends their thanks to the excellent personal support and social work staff working at CIUSSS Centre-Ouest Montreal/Benny Farm, especially to Megan Mackay and Kira Seto. Due to the current public health restrictions under the COVID19 pandemic, the family will have a private funeral and internment at Notre Dame-des-Neiges Cemetery, in Montreal, Quebec. In lieu of flowers, we kindly encourage friends and loved ones to make a charitable donation to Parkinson’s Canada (https://www.parkinson.ca/). A memorial mass will be held to celebrate Nazzareno’s life at a later date, after public health restrictions in Montreal are lifted and people can gather in places of worship. Nazzareno’s family want to thank everyone who have expressed their deepest sympathies and wishes of condolence at this difficult time. Nazzareno’s heart was as large as his famous smile; he was well-loved by so many people and he will be greatly missed.
