Janusz Mazur
Mr. Janusz Mazur, age 77, passed away peacefully at home in Montreal, Canada, on October 8, 2024, of natural causes.
He will be greatly missed by his beloved wife Danuta to whom he was married for 49 years, his nephew Wojciech (Sharon), his sister-in-law Wanda, his brother-in-law Fiorino, and their children Vanessa (Derek), Adam (Christine), great-nephew Dante, great-niece Mia, as well as his many relatives in Poland. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to his caregiver Małgorzata for her kindness, unwavering dedication, and cherished friendship.
He was the son of the late Teofil and the late Krystyna Mazur; predeceased by his dear sister Grazyna Mazur and brother-in-law Zbigniew Grudziecki. Janusz was a bon vivant who cherished the finer things in life. He enjoyed traveling, good food, and good drink, always appreciating the beauty of life's experiences.
Janusz was a well-known and respected member of the Polish community and served as the President of the Wieslaw Dymny Cultural Foundation in Montreal. Thanks to the Foundation, and the Kraków connections of its president, Montreal's Polonia has had access to top-shelf culture for almost 30 years: Performances of the Piwnica pod Baranami Kabaret (3x); concerts by Stan Borys, Halina Frąckowiak, Andrzej Rosiewicz, Zbigniew Wodecki, and Jacek Wójcicki; Monday screenings of Television Theatres at the Polish Consulate, Salons of Poetry, Music and Theatre of the Polish-Canadian Music Society from Toronto, and numerous exhibitions and concerts. Janusz had many friends worldwide and touched many lives.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 24, 2024, from 6 PM to 9 PM at Kane Fetterly Funeral Home, located at 5301 Decarie Blvd in Montreal.
In lieu of flowers, to honor Mr. Mazur’s memory, please consider a donation to The Polish Library located at 4220 rue Drolet, Montreal, H2W 2L6. Janusz was involved with the library for many years and supported it financially. For your donation, you will receive a charitable receipt.
