Marianne Caroline Nelson (Ohm) passed away on Friday, September 13, 2019 at the McGill University Health Centre at the age of 78.
Marianne was born on April 1, 1941 in Williston, North Dakota.
She received her Bachelor’s degree in music performance at Minot State University in 1963 and taught music at Princeton North Elementary (Minnesota) for thirty years. She was a talented pipe organ player and played for churches in North Dakota and Minnesota for over forty years. Marianne was also an artist who made many quilts, rugs, and other crafts; in particular, she was accomplished in the Scandinavian folk art of Rosemaling. She was a world traveler who visited countries on six continents, including Brazil, Argentina and Chile just this summer, making many friends in the process. She moved to Montreal in 2018. An avid reader and card player, her generous spirit and sense of humor will be missed by family and friends alike.
She is survived by her brother Butch, children Bradley and Julianne (Sigg), and her grandchildren, Jacqueline, Clint II, Nicholas, William, and Benjamin.
A memorial service will be held at the Kane Fetterly Funeral Home at 5301 Decarie Blvd on Tuesday, September 17, 2019 at 5:00 pm. Visitation will begin at 3:00, and the service will be followed by a reception.
