Mom’s Obituary

Elizabeth “Eling” Gandol Ramirez was a kind, caring loving mother, sister, daughter, grandmother and friend. She was called to join our Father in heaven on May 13, 2021 at the age of 57.

Eling was born and raised in Candon, Ilocos Sur, Philippines to Ricardo and Caridad G. Ramirez on July 5, 1963. She is the second born among six siblings. Beth was studying to become a nurse at the University of Baguio, but at the young age of 24 she decided to work abroad to support her family. She worked two years in Athens, Greece and after her contract ended she flew straight to Toronto, Canada without the thought of a vacation because she only wanted to keep helping her family back home. In Toronto, while working she pursued and completed her studies as a nursing aid. She moved to Montreal to continue work and there she gave birth to her one and only son, Justin Ryan Ramirez.

Despite being far from her family for support and having to raise her son on her own, Elizabeth accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Saviour and surrendered it all to Him. She believed He would provide all their needs. Her loneliness did not affect her resolve to overcome every obstacle to be able to raise her son good while still providing for her loved ones back in the Philippines.  She never felt alone. Her faith is what kept her going, and it is also what saved her.

To Elizabeth, her son was her greatest accomplishment. She was able to raise a God reliant child and managed to have her son complete college in nursing. And to Justin, his mother meant everything to him, losing her was losing both his mom and dad in the same time. He feels he will never receive the same attention and support he always had as an only son. They both had so many plans and wishes they wanted to achieve side by side.

Beth was known for being hardworking, having multiple employers in the same time. She can be quiet, but she thinks a lot for others more than for herself, especially for her son and for their dog, Lulu Ramirez, whom she treated like her own youngest daughter. She would do anything and give everything for her son. And despite being on the other side of the world from her family, she always kept close connections with them even if they had never met in person. Eizabeth was also soft-spoken and always liked helping others as well as newcomers to the city. She was a true gardener, many of her friends were always looking forward to her garden every summer. And Elizabeth was also a great cook, all that knew if she cooked during gatherings or potlucks also knew that  it was going to be good.

But the one passion that Elizabeth had the most for, was her belief in her faith. She was always close to God, and an active member in the church as a singer, usherette and cook. Despite all the hardships and loneliness that she had been through, she persevered it all with God, and for her son. She ran her race and fought the good fight of faith. And even till her last breath, her faith and trust in Jesus Christ was unwavering. She truly received her crown of life. And before leaving to heaven, Beth sowed a seed in raising her son so that he may continue the work of God that started in her, and that her legacy will live on through her son.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her younger brother Noli, her father Ricardo, her close aunt Ignacia, and her older sister Elena.

Beth will be greatly missed by all her friends and relatives who were a part of her life in Canada and Greece.

Mommy Lola will truly be missed by all of her nieces, nephews and grandchildren whom she had wish to have met.

Eling will be deeply missed by her mother Caridad, her sister Marylou and her two brothers Onofre Juan & Danny whom she never got to return to.

Mama will be missed most and never forgotten by her son Justin and Lulu whom together still had plenty of plans left.

Her funeral service will be held on June 12, 2021. Beth and her son will finally be able to return home shortly after to the Philippines where she will reunite with her family and be buried at the Garden of Peace in Candon.

The whole family would like to thank everyone who supported them during this difficult time, especially those who helped on making this return back home possible through a fundraising. All the prayers and monetary help were so kind and very much appreciated in these tough times. Please continue to pray for them as they heal and move forward, especially for her dearest and most loved son, Justin Ryan.
