Obituary

May Siu Mei Hui

IN LOVING MEMORY OF (MAY) SUI MEI HUI (ONG /HILLER) 1945-2024 who passed away very suddenly on Monday, August 5 2024, at the age of seventy-eight. She was pre-deceased by her first husband, Ronald (Ron) Hean Soon Ong (died: May 8, 2010), father Hui Soo Chai and mother Rosa Siew Sim Lian Hui. She is survived by her husband, Derek Hiller, daughter; Debbie Gek Ean Ong, son; Adrien Kian Yong Ong (Maryann Feliciano), five grandchildren Hana Shin, Sara Shin, Daniel Shin, Simon Shin and Matthew Ong, and her two younger brothers, Eugene Hoong Kwong Hui and Raymond Albert Hoong Fai Hui as well as many other relatives in Malaysia, Singapore, England, Australia and friends from all over the world.

(May) Mei was a woman with unwavering determination to overcome any obstacle and believed strongly that nothing was impossible. Born in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, May/Mei from birth grew into a strong, determined, stubborn woman whose strong disciplined principled background from her parents shaped and molded her into the person we all know. She graduated Valedictorian from the University of Malaya in Accountancy. Throughout the years May/Mei has left her mark on many people who have crossed her path and come to know her in both her private family and professional business life.

Those that knew her, knew she was warm and loving with a generous heart, who enjoyed life to its fullest and did not feel or look her age. She was outspoken and believed and abided as best as possible by the highest levels of integrity and was always professional in both her personal life and work in international business. She loved God intensely and faithfully and was happiest serving the Lord in various ministries with her late husband, where they held a position at the International Christian Chamber of Commerce until 2005.

Throughout her life, May/Mei has achieved success first as an accountant in Malaysia and Singapore where she had own accountancy firm. In 1976, May/Mei and Ron emigrated to London, England with their two children where she established in 1980, an international import and export company. In 1984, she became a licensed interior designer, winning international awards in both England and later in Singapore. In 1990, after emigrating to Canada, May/ Mei with Ron had a haute couture company located in Westmount, Montreal. She was also a licensed commercial real estate realtor broker with Royal LePage Commercial in 1993. Between 1996 and 2010, May/Mei involved herself and her husband Ron, in many international businesses opportunities and ministries until her husband was diagnosed with prostrate cancer where she took a few years off to care for him. During this time, she experienced some of the hardest years of her life that in equivocally changed her perspective of life. The passing of Ron made May/Mei take stock of what she had and she was determined not to fall into the depths of despair.

May/Mei was blessed to meet Derek in 2011, who became her best friend and eventual husband in 2021. They both enjoyed traveling, doing business together and experiencing new eateries and shopping together. May/ Mei had a new lease on life from meeting Derek and decided to focus on her career again, becoming a licensed Financial Security Advisor. Meanwhile, she developed a love of nature and often with Derek, they would both just take a few hours in a day to just drive and experience nature where May/Mei would take many pictures of scenery and trees. In January 2024, May/Mei received an Honorary Doctorate from the Universal Institute of Professional Management (UIPM) for her Outstanding International Business Development and Financial Education. She also managed to finally reunite with her Hui Family clan after 50 years in a long awaited family reunion which she had dreamed for many years.

May/Mei will always be known for her tenacity, strength, determination, unwavering dedication to God and her strong influence upon all those around her. She will be greatly be missed by family and friends. The family will hold a small service inviting all to commemorate May/Mei’s life and receive condolences on Saturday 31 August, from 11am to 6 p.m. (Service will be from 12pm - 1.30pm) and on Sunday 1 September from 11am to 6 p.m. at: Kane & Fetterly Funeral Home at 5301 Decarie Boulevard, Montréal, Quebec H3W 3C4; Tel: (514) 481-5301. A reception will follow the service on Saturday and a private cremation will follow on Tuesday 3 September. Flowers can be sent and received on Saturday 31 August between 9am - 11am at the funeral home.

(In her May’s own words)

“💥Question 1.). Please tell me what your big vision is for yourself and your life.

I think it would make a lot of sense to give you some (😱 oof !?) relevant information of myself & my background . You could say I’m not the usual run-of-the-mill kind of person.

I think this prior information on my background will probably answer your questions more meaningfully & completely without me explaining too too much more !!

First of all, I’m 78 years old now and will be 79 on Dec 31 this year 😃

However, I don’t feel that age, or look that age , never ever consciously count or think of my age or years & almost all my friends or contacts are (much) younger. Few people realize I’m THAT age but many may realize I’m older than I look , only because of my testimonies .

I’m Chinese , born in Malaysia/Singapore into a fairly well to do & conservative, professional & educated family. I Never experienced any hardships of life & married well so that I’ve travelled extensively throughout the Far East, Europe & the Americas & enjoyed the best that life can offer, a large part on corporate account all around the world for the last 40+ years or so until my husband died in 2010 from prostrate cancer .

My father was my mentor & the most influential person in moulding the May of today. He was the Controller General (minister)of Inland Revenue for Malaysia, was very well educated in both the Chinese & English dialects & philosophy, & he taught me from a very young age to “HITCH MY WAGON TO THE STARS”.

That teaching & seeking (unconscious “demand”) for excellence at all times & the “nothing impossible” philosophy has had profound impact in my life & values ever since , causing different & much challenges with various results in different ways throughout my life ….. especially when I became a “born again” Christian some 30+ years ago when I was re-taught to not lean on self but surrender all to Jesus!!

I am well educated with university degrees & was an entrepreneur from a very young age in various fields of

* accountancy & audit & corporate management (had my own company in Singapore ).

* Interior design (founded Singapore Society of interior Designers ),

*won several international awards for interior design work in Singapore. London , Shanghai & Indonesia ,

*did real estate & hotel management in London & was

*commercial real estate agent in Montreal for a couple years during the recession years of 1990s

*network marketing for several years in mainly health products & ACN etc

*AND finally in the financial services industry for the last 11 years —> I resigned from WFG last year but reattached my licence again just 2 months ago to Experior.

◦ Despite the worldly & often extravagant life I’ve lived for so long since birth , I was left financially destitute when my husband died in 2010 mainly because we were NOT financially educated ourselves in the right areas & thus didn’t even have the minimum protection. The plans my late husband had for our retirement were swept away unexpectedly in the recession of 2008 & eventual renegement of agreement by his business partner after his death . Infact the first action I took after his funeral was suing his partner.

I went from a privileged to a financially challenged lifestyle overnight !!

I was introduced to World Financial Group (WFG) shortly after in 2013 & immersed myself in the financial services world where I learnt that even a bare minimum financial education could have prevented what I experienced. To me — WFG became an acronym for “Work For God” where I could apply the new financial principles to help people…& knew in my heart that God wanted me to apply the new principles & my work for Kingdom purposes (see testimony ). I understood the principle that God had made everyone the head and not the tail

💥THUS…..my VISION & GOAL has been & will continue to

• empower everyone with financial education that they can become financially free & provide them the means & tools to create personal wealth & leave a financial legacy to their families Canadian statistics show 91% of the population lacked financial education & the wives & families would fall into poverty or become destitute if the main wage earner died suddenly

• to be so financially free myself that I don’t need to worry about money. My personal experience described & the new financial education above left an indelible mark on me that I would never be left in the same situation

• I don’t need millions $$ …but No, that’s not true as I guess the final amount would be in millions to support the lifestyle & vision I want to perpetuate

• To be able to travel anywhere & everywhere anytime in relative luxury & comfort & for whatever reason

• To extend generosity & help & relevant financial aid to worthwhile causes and needy peoples of all races

• To bring Derek, my husband, to some of the missionary places in Philippines & Indonesia where I went in my earlier years so that he can truly appreciate & understand some of the experiences I experienced that also significantly shaped my values …eg a new appreciation & understanding of poverty — to witness the poverty of the peoples, their extremely simple & poor lives but such sincere hearts, love & generosity etc during …..my “missionary” days earlier …..and to have a hands on experience of the vision we both have /share——->>

• To establish & fund a Foundation for underprivileged children & other peoples , including certain projects for the wellbeing of the peoples like freshwater wells , schools, setting up of cottage industries for the poor… etc

• serving the underprivileged & people & projects in Israel & other parts of the world. I guess this Foundation will serve all the goals….. we have already planned for 2 of my grandsons to be the future trustees of this foundation (hopefully they will prove worthy & accept the roles)

• Write my book asap, my testimony, which has been delayed for about 20 years! God gave me the title of book, even some chapters & it has been confirmed by a couple of (unknown) pastors that I need to write my book & visit different peoples as prophesied over me many years ago. I need to finish this project soon

• Another goal is to continue or concentrate more on “kingdom work” according to kingdom principles (not just Christian principles) which includes being the lender & not the borrower & to exercise lavish generosity with principles of love, peace & joy! I’d like to extend or apply these kingdom principles to my businesses which are still in the development stages.

• Develop the business concept & program of “Dr May’s Team” which will empower & equip genuinely interested persons who come onboard to create wealth & legacies through a variety of business programs that Derek & I partake in —- this is where LIVEGOOD slots in as one of the programs in my portfolio — as well as my other project in EXPERIOR Financial Services, the new MGA where I reattached my life licence just recently

• A new objective is to consider spending a few months back in the far east, in Malaysia & surrounding areas where I feel the Lord May be opening new doors for either business or ministry . My honorary doctorate was the cause of such an exploratory “vision”

Life is indeterminate & uncertain Hailey, i believe in End Time prophecies & teaching — & since I’m not a young newbie, you might understand why I say time is short & I want to achieve much and quickly! Enormous financial resources are necessary to achieve many or all of these goals

I don’t have the luxury of endless years ….I want to achieve MUCH as quickly as possible in the next 2-3 years …??!!….

Oh…..

1. FYI, my present husband, Derek Hiller, is a gift from God . Several pastors confirmed it. He’s younger than I, have almost the Same PPL vision as my late husband & I , & have certain strengths that my late husband didn’t have that will better enable the successful & potential fulfillment of our vision & goals…….& he wears the same size shoes as late husband !! Talk of “stepping into his shoes”— it’s weird — I “freaked out” !!

2. We work as a team, often fighting too as we are both strong & competitive but understand the commonality of goals & love we have . We are like 2 peas in a pod - the 2 sides of a knife !

3. I received an HONORARY DOCTORATE AWARD from UIPM this January for outstanding international business development, financial education & services to humanity.

4. As I wrote my short thesis for the award, I suddenly realized the award summarized almost exactly what I’ve been doing the last 50 years. How did UIPM decide on my award.? UIPM didn’t know me before — I was amazed & know in my spirit this award was from God to put me in a different trajectory for my life & work as it opens different & new doors with accompanying respect, recognition , accountability & honour & business contacts

5. So officially I’m known now as DR MAY SIU MEI HUI—- a new name to accompany a new vision & work . Funny, or it couldn’t be coincidental, that just last week I was promoted to Executive Director at the EXPERIOR FINANCIAL SERVICES CONVENTION under my new name .

6. I had to return to Malaysia to receive the award & miraculously, I was invited & thus reunited with my own HUi family at the Chinese New Year reunion dinner for the first time in 50 years ——

7. .and UIPM announced me with “this is her Welcome Homecoming” WITHOUT KNOWING any of the personal details. HOMECOMING ?? What does it really mean? Is the Far east my new future business playground? Is this coincidental ?? Can you understand why I feel I’m put on a potentially different trajectory & why I feel I’m at new cross roads of my life?

8. Ohh…..several friends have suggested I’m much too experienced with too much knowledge & experiences to re-enter the workplace & join in the fray of “normal” MLM biz etc & to compete with the younger generation. It’s time to share my experiences & knowledge …. & they see me on stage giving talks & sharing the wealth of knowledge garnered from my lifetime in to many fields etc. I’ve thought & prayed about this option & feel comfortable to proceed but am not sure how to begin …….. I think I need professional help to at least develop the image of “Dr May’s Team” through the social media pages ….????….and to know how to launch myself as a speak. er ?? Any ideas or recommendations ?

💥Question 2). Describe your current situation. What seems to be the matter?

Since returning from Malaysia in February, I’ve been a bit off colour & lethargic — feeling a bit out of sorts, a bit undecided and “waiting” for something to happen !!”

From my incredible Wife Dr. MAY, Siu Mei Hui

She was working with a business coach and she was answering a few questions as she had an appointment on Tuesday August 6th

This was Written the morning of August 5, 2024 her last day on earth.

Such an incredible lady, many will miss her, but she is with Jesus now!

She is in perfect hands now!

God bless you!🙏❤️
