Margaret Ellen Allen

January 4th, 1938 - December 10th, 2024

Born on January 4th, 1938 in Timmins, Ontario to Joseph MacNeil and Lola Lindsay RN, sister of brother Lindsay (deceased) and sisters Anne Angus and Kathleen Finney. Died on December 10th, 2024, with her family by her side.

Proud and loving mother of sons Marc Paul and Cid Pierre. Cherished grandmother of Alaina, Jacob, Alexandre and Philippe, and great grandmother of Charlotte and Liam.

Margaret graduated in 1959 from the Marymount School of Nursing of the Sudbury General Hospital in Sudbury, Ontario, then assumed the post of head nurse of pediatrics. Furthered her nursing education at McGill, graduating in 1962.

Met and married Rodney Allen in Sudbury and began her teaching career. Among her students- her sister Kathleen RN and her husband's sisters Jo-Anne RN and Mary-Lee RN.

Moved to Montreal in time for Expo 67 following her husband in his career in the pharmaceutical industry. Margaret immediately resumed her teaching career at St. Mary's Hospital in Montreal until her beloved sons augmented the family. Later, very much a student advocate and critical thinker, Margaret returned to teaching nursing students until her retirement in 2004.

Marg was an accomplished cook whether a dinner party at her home with friends for sultan's delight or spontaneously creating a porcini pasta at a villa near Lucca, or creating a delicious moose bourguignon at her sister-in-law's cottage in Cape Breton.

Marg is deeply missed and will be remembered for her style and elegance, intelligence, warmth, kindness and her wonderful smile.

A reception will be held from 11:30am to 2:30pm on Thursday, June 26th at Kane Fetterly, 5301 Decarie Blvd., Montreal. A family burial will follow at Mount Royal Cemetery.
