January 7th, 1941 - July 7th, 2025

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Vilma E. Garque, who peacefully departed this world at the age of 84. Born in Negros, Philippines, she immigrated to Canada in 1973, after working in Manila and England as a nanny. She was a devoted and loving mother to her two sons, Joseph and Anthony.

Vilma was an elderly care professional, and had a reputation for her caring and selfless nature. Her loyalty, strength, resiliency and generosity, touched all who knew her. She had a passion for cooking & baking, reading, and traveling, and was known for her delicious food. Never one to turn people away, her home was an open door to friends, family and all the neighbourhood.

She cherished her time with her family in Montreal, sisters Rita, Luz, her niece Amanda, her two sons, daughter in law Yael, and especially her siblings in the Philippines Raul, Doris, Jemina, Bert and their families.

A viewing service will take place at Kane Fetterly on Saturday July 26th, 2 - 9pm. Funeral mass will be held Sunday July 27th, 2pm at Saint Malachy.
