Obituary

Diane Quart

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Diane Quart, who left us peacefully on September 6th, 2025, at the age of 74, after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s Disease and, more recently, ovarian cancer.

Born in Quebec City to the late Gerrard and Barbara Quart, Diane was a beloved sister to Barry Quart, Wendy (Gordon) Hall, and the late Derek Quart. She was a cherished aunt to Deborah (Aaron), Darren (Jen), and Derek (Jamie), and a devoted great-aunt to Nathalie, Diana, Nathan, Shanti, Estella, Simonne, and Naomi.

From an early age, Diane developed a passion for sports, excelling in golf, squash, hockey, and tennis. A proud graduate of Loyola College (now Concordia University) majoring in communication arts and graphic design, she was inducted into its Sports Hall of Fame in recognition of her athletic accomplishments.

Diane devoted most of her professional life to Marianopolis College, where she worked as both a teacher and a guidance counsellor. She was admired by colleagues and beloved by generations of students, remembered not only for her dedication but also for her warmth and humour.

An active member of Club Atwater, Diane thrived on competition and camaraderie. Whether on the squash or badminton courts, or participating in nearly any fitness activity, she built deep and lasting friendships that spanned her career and personal life.

She will be remembered for her caring spirit, adventurous nature, competitive drive, and, above all, her unique sense of humour. Even in the past month, despite her medical challenges, Diane could be found golfing, hiking the trails in Whistler, playing pickleball, ping-pong or even zip-lining—living proof that nothing could keep “Di” down.

The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to the remarkable doctors, nurses, and staff of the oncology and internal medicine teams at the McGill University Health Centre – Glen site, for their compassionate and thorough care.

A private ceremony will be held in Quebec City for family and close friends, with a celebration of Diane’s life to be scheduled in Montreal for her many friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Diane’s memory may be made to Parkinson Canada or the Canadian Cancer Society.
