Obituary
Venita Garraway
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Venita Althea Garraway.
Venita was born on October 23, 1945, in Kingstown, St. Vincent & the Grenadines, West Indies, to the late Bertram Garraway and Myra Garraway (nee Lewis).
She attended Girls’ High School in Kingstown where her favourite extracurricular activity was sports, track and field in particular. The numerous awards and trophies she accumulated during those years were evidence of the high level of success she achieved.
Venita immigrated to Quebec, Canada, in 1969 and completed a nursing assistant program at Montreal General Hospital before moving to New Westminster, BC, where she gained the credentials to become a Registered Nurse. She continued her nursing career when she immigrated to California and went on to specialize in dialysis treatment. She worked in that field until she retired.
Her nursing association and membership in the church she attended provided the opportunity for her to travel widely. Besides those excursions, Venita went on many personal trips that further increased the diversity of countries she visited, from nearby Jamaica and Mexico to faraway New Zealand. She was truly a vibrant and outgoing individual who enjoyed life.
Venita was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Clarence and sister Lea.
She remains in the loving memory of her son Clarence, her sister June Jack and three brothers: Archie, Garbette (Montie) and Bervin. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
