Obituary

Barbara Bonner

Our dearest Barb passed into the arms of her Saviour Jesus – just after 3pm, the hour of Divine Mercy, as we prayed this particular devotion which was close to her heart.  A truly ordained and blessed moment on Thanksgiving, October 14, 2024. She was surrounded by love, prayers and benefitted from the utmost gentle, kind, care at Maison St. Raphael in Montreal.

Barb is survived by her mother Mary Lally Bonner, her two older brothers, Michael and Bill, and her younger sister Beverly, ever devoted. Also by nieces – Scarlett, Annie, Michelle, Molly, Emery, Jessica, Erin and Silje and nephews – Malcolm, Devlin and Tom-Eric;  upon whom she expressly wished so much blessing even as she left us.  Extended family and friends from present and long past –  all reached out with love and affection which touched her greatly.

Barb – humble, generous, giving and forgiving. Sweet and quirky in her outlooks.  Uniquely, sometimes fiercely, herself.  A beautiful soul shared with everyone. Barb’s hope and motivations were firmly rooted in her faith and her striving for God’s Kingdom Come.  It is sure from her heavenly promotion, she will continue with greater grace for this cause and to pray for all of us whom she loved.

The funeral mass is at St. Monica’s Church, 6405 Terrebonne Street in Montreal on Wednesday, October 30th at 11am.  There will be a quiet hour from 10am for prayer and rosary for any who wish to spend time with Barb and each other in this way. Following the funeral all are welcome to gather in the church hall for refreshments and to share stories of Barb.  If you are able to stay it would be helpful to advise Beverly to have some idea for preparations.   Feel welcome to join us in any case, we will rely on the ‘loaves and fishes’ principle if necessary.

Interment will be at the Notre Dame des Neiges Cemetery on Thursday, October 31st at 11am.

Barbara’s dear father, Thomas Bonner, will be buried with his daughter at that time.

(Any desire to gift/commemorate Barb should be directed towards the Maison St. Raphael hospice in Montreal, who depend largely on donations to exist.  It is the exact care and service Barb deeply wished for all souls who journey this pathway in their time, and thankfully received herself.)
