Obituary
Molly Fitzgerald
On the morning of March 2, 2025, Molly Pritchard of Montreal passed away peacefully at the age of 94. For the past decade, she faced the challenges of Alzheimer’s disease, a journey marked by grief for her and those who loved her. While we mourn her passing, we take solace in knowing she is finally at peace.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to St. Margaret’s for their kindness and support, with special appreciation for Lucy Ferguson, whose unwavering dedication and compassionate care meant so much.
Molly was born in Montreal to Dr. Ralph Fitzgerald and Norah James (nFitzgerald). A registered nurse, she later moved to Toronto, where she met and married Paul Pritchard. Together, they built a life filled with love and family. Their first son, Joseph Ralph Scott Pritchard (Jodi Lafreniere), was born in Toronto, and the Pritchard family later moved to Granby, Quebec, where they welcomed their daughter, Deborah Hunter Sewell (Derek Sewell), and their second son, Ian Fitzgerald Pritchard (partner Marian Maier). Molly cherished her grandchildren William and Justine; Nisha Sewell and Kyle Brown (and their son Fitz); and Tassi Sewell McQuade and Nick McQuade (and their children Molly and Penny).
From Granby, Molly and Paul moved to Knowlton, Quebec, where she became an integral part of the community. She was an avid tennis player, continued her nursing career, completed her university degree, and worked at MDS. Her social circle was wide and vibrant, including her dear friends and her brother Hunter and wife Annette and their family, Carol and Mike ( their children Katie, Alex, Sam), daughter Corrine and son Ralph and Stephanie(their children Annie and Hunter) in Calgary.
After Pauls passing, Molly found love again with Ron Ralph, to whom she was eternally engaged. They shared 12 wonderful years together in Dundas, Ontario, where Ron’s children: Nancy, Hugh, and Susan, welcomed her with warmth, love and kindness.
Molly was a devoted mother, balancing discipline with deep friendship and unwavering support. She took immense pride in her children’s accomplishments and, later in life, found great joy in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The family will celebrate Molly’s life privately in Knowlton this spring. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada.
