Andre Volpe

September 1, 1940 - March 30, 2025

It is with great sadness that the family announces the sudden passing of Andre Volpe, surrounded by family at the Queensway Carleton Hospital, on Sunday, March 30, 2025.

Andre was a loving husband to the late Brenda (nee Shera), with whom he shared 41 wonderful years. He will be dearly missed by his children Rosemary (Marc Michel) and Phillip (Trisha Conway); sisters Lucille, Teresa, and Gina (Cleto Tedone); nieces Lucie, Tanya, Emma, and nephew Tory; granddaughter Mally, and many good friends.

Born on September 1, 1940, in Montreal, Quebec, Andre received his degree in accounting at Loyola College (now Concordia University) in Montreal and joined an auditing firm in 1964, marrying the same year.

In 1966, he moved to Grand-Mere, Quebec with Brenda and Rosemary, to begin a 20-year career as controller for the Consolidated-Bathurst pulp and paper mill. He continued his studies, obtaining professional accreditation as a Certified Management Accountant. He and Brenda were both active in the community. He enjoyed volunteer work at his church, curling, and cross-country skiing. He also liked socializing through the company’s Laurentide Club, attending dinner parties with Brenda. They also took up ballroom dancing lessons for several years and went dancing on Saturday nights.

In 1985, he was promoted and transferred to Renfrew, Ontario as controller for four mills. He continued volunteering, joining the Kin Club and was awarded a lifetime recognition award after 13 years in different roles within the organization. He also continued to be an active member of his church.

After Brenda’s death in 2006, he moved to Ottawa in 2009 to be closer to his son and to family in Montreal. While semi-retired, he provided accounting services. He also continued to volunteer at his church and with the local Kin Club. He was an avid walker, gardener, and world traveler, particularly during the cold winter months. He will be remembered as soft-spoken, kind, thoughtful, trustworthy, and as having a deep sense of faith.

The family would like to thank the outstanding medical professionals who attended to Andre during his short illness: Dr. Xu, Dr. Choudhri, Dr. Neidert, Nurse Tracy, Nurse Lucy, and the nursing and support staff at the Queensway Carleton Hospital.

Visitation at Kane & Fetterly Funeral Home, 5301 Decarie Blvd., Montreal, Quebec will be on Thursday, April 10 from 3-5 and 6-8 p.m.

Funeral Mass at St. Malachy's Church, Montreal will be on Friday, April 11 at 12 p.m. with Father Michael Divyanthan officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that remembrances be made in the form of charitable donations to Kin Club of Orleans and/or Ottawa Food Bank.
