It is with both love and sadness that we announce the passing of Renel Maxfield Rickards, age 77, beloved husband of Yvonne Alexander with whom he shared 35 wonderful years of marriage. Renel passed away peacefully in Royal Victoria Hospital on December 29, 2025.

Born in Jamaica, Renel moved to Canada at an early age where he resided with his wife, Yvonne. He retired from FASA Fiction Laboratory where he worked for many years.

In addition to his wife, Yvonne, he is survived by his children, Richard, Julie, Lakeisha and Nickeisha (Chris); stepchildren, Althea and Clive; 11 grandchildren; brothers - Horace, Clarence (Norma), Clifton, Charles, Aldin (Yvonne), Curland (Jennifer), Basil and Michael; sisters Carmen, Opal, (Byron Crosdale); brothers-in-law Charles, Norbert, Ronald and Andrew; sister-in-law Lurlyne and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends may greet the family on Monday, January 12, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Kane Fetterly Funeral Home, 5301 Boulevard Decarie, Montreal. A service will follow at 11 AM. Interment will be held privately at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Royal Victoria Hospital, 9th Floor.

He will forever be in our hearts. Rest in Peace.
