Obituary

Emile Latour

It is with deep sadness that I announce the passing of my dear husband Emile Latour.

Emile passed gently in my presence on Sunday Morning January 18, 2026 at Saint-Margaret Residence after an arduous 5-year battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.

Born in Montreal to Florence Lalonde and Antonio Latour, he originated from a large loving family of five brothers, nephews and nieces whom he often spoke of with so much joy and love.

Emile was a graduate of Concordia University. During his youth, Emile joined the Canadian Armed Forces cadets and as an adult achieved the rank of Officer, 2nd Lieutenant.

A hard worker and dedicated person, Emile enjoyed a long successful career with Bell Canada ending with his retirement in 1990.  He started his career at Bell working as a coin collector. His years at Bell were diversified; Marketing/Human Resources/ Recruiting /Management Training/Travelling on Foreign Assignment in South America/Middle East /Europe were all part of his experience with Bell Canada.

He was a generous caring person who gave of himself and his time in volunteering for various causes such as the Missing Children’s Network Canada, VP of the Lakeshore General Hospital Patient Committee, and many other organizations.

An active member of C.E.S.O. Canadian Service Executive Organization, he provided regular management training for Canada’s First Nations throughout Quebec, Ontario, Newfoundland, Labrador and Nova Scotia.

He volunteered at the Ste. Anne’s Hospital for many years providing cheerful musical visits, support, accompaniment, and sitting with dying patients who found themselves alone in their final hours.

Emile was gifted with a beautiful tenor voice. Music and choral singing played a huge part of his life. He sang for many years with the St. Lawrence Choir and Montreal Symphonic Choir, as well as the St. Edmond Of Canterbury choir.

Emile leaves to mourn his wife Arlene, his stepchildren, Lorna (Ron), Ross, Caroline (Pete) and Krista, grand-stepchildren, nephews, nieces and many loyal extended family and friends who went to visit him, especially Brenda and Richard Brisebois and Brenda Cormier who were the strength and constants during this journey.

Emile said that in his life the greatest word he ever heard was being called “Grandpa” by his two youngest step-grandsons Lucas and Mack.

A celebration of Emile’s Life will take place on February 14, 2026: visitation beginning at 2PM with service at 3 PM followed by a reception at Kane Fetterly at 5301 Boulevard Decarie, Montreal Quebec.

Our family would like to extend recognition and an enormous thank you to the caring staff at Saint Margaret residence and request that in lieu of flowers donations be made in Emile’s memory to CHSLD Saint Margaret, 50 Hillside Lane, Westmount Quebec.
