Obituary

Rose Abrams (née Imbeault)

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Rose-Aimée Imbeault Abrams on March 25th 2023 at the impressive age of 106 at Ste Anne’s Hospital in Montréal, Québec.

Rose was predeceased by her loving husband Louis Abramovitz, dear sister Aline, father Adelard and mother Antoinette Picard, who herself died of the Spanish Flu when Rose was only 3 years old. Suffice it to acknowledge that Rose survived 2 pandemics despite testing positive for Covid, albeit symptom-free, in 2021 at the tender age of 105! What a remarkable, resilient woman!!

Born in North Bay Ontario in 1916, Rose was raised by her maternal Aunts Clara and Rose. After completing high school in North Bay, Rose gained acceptance at a Business College in Ottawa. Being perfectly bilingual and independent of character, she then moved to Montréal and enjoyed a successful career as an Administrative Assistant with companies such as CIL and Noranda.
Rose married the love of her life, Louis Abrams, in 1970 and enjoyed family, friends, golf, music and winter getaways in their Florida mobile home. Once widowed, Rose began to paint, play bridge and travel around the globe with good friends who shared her love of cruises.

Rose will be forever remembered by her 1st cousin Claudette, niece Marcia (Gary, Steven), nephews Avrum (Helena, Bobby, Joanne, Gill) and Ivan (Marilyn, Darren, Stacey) as well as numerous 2nd and 3rd cousins including Peter and Louise, Sue, Denyse, Nicole, Paul, Christina, Jessica, Julia, Jackie and her buddy Chanelle.
Rose endured many losses during her long life, but one of the most difficult recent losses was of her 1st cousin and daily confidante, Fern Mantha, who she missed dearly everyday over the past 3 years.

Rose will be further missed by her loyal friends including Helen, Marguerite, Edward, Christiane, Howard and Belen amongst many others.

A special note of gratitude to Dr Bruce Campbell and Dr Julia Chabot from St Mary’s hospital whose outstanding care and kindness will forever be remembered and appreciated.

Finally, we sincerely thank the devoted nurses, care-aids, therapists, dieticians, Drs and volunteers at Ste Anne’s and St Mary’s Hospitals as well as R.I. Glenmount for their tender care, competence and empathy during Rose’s final challenging years ….. merci à vous tous!
