HURLEY, KATHLEEN (NÉE O’GORMAN)
JANUARY 26, 1917 – MAY 19, 2015

In her 99th year, at the Grace Dart Extended Care Centre in Montreal, Quebec.

Born in Boston, Massachusetts, the daughter of Gaynor Ignatius O’Gorman and Mary McDermott O’Gorman. The third of five children: Eileen, Gaynor, Kathleen, Vincent and Mary. Predeceased by her husband, Dr. Gerard A.P. Hurley, and her daughter, Eileen. Mother of Eileen (David Thompson), Mary, Kathleen, John (Veronica Noble) and Brian Hurley. Grandmother of James, William (Brittany Petersen) and Tara Esdaile (Claudia Weber) and Maud and Claire Hurley.

Kathleen married Gerard in Montreal on December 6, 1941. In addition to making a home for their family, Kathleen was active in volunteer work for many years at St. Mary’s Hospital and she served as warden at St. Patrick’s Church and on the board of directors of the Montreal YWCA. After Gerard’s death in 1970, Kathleen worked as Unit Coordinator in Obstetrics at the Montreal General Hospital. After her retirement in 1982, she continued to work there as a volunteer at the reception desk until 2006. Kathleen’s life was a lesson in courage, grace and generosity.

The family wishes to thank the staff at the Grace Dart Extended Care Centre for their kindness and care.

A funeral will be held at The Ascension of Our Lord Church, 375 Kitchener Avenue, Westmount, Quebec, on Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at 11 a.m. Visitation will take place at Kane & Fetterly, 5301 Décarie Boulevard, Montréal, on Monday, May 25, 2015 between 6:00 and 9:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Grace Dart Foundation would be appreciated.
