BERNARD, Benjamin Linford
1926 - 2015
On Sunday July 26, at 88 years old, Ben departed from Brampton, Canada, to be with his Lord. Beloved husband of the late Icilda Harriott, Ben is missed by his children Carol (Ted Dettweiler) and Paul (Marilyn Areja), his grandchild Philip, and predeceased by his son David. Brother to Adlyn, Albert (d), Ivy (d), Sylvia, Mavis, Martin (d), Gertie, and Sarah.
Born in Jamaica. Farmer before immigrating to Montreal to marry his sweetheart. Nursing Orderly at the Jewish General Hospital. Elder at Cote Des Neiges Presbyterian Church. Active in Mandeville and Mississauga communities on retirement. Remembered for his love of Jesus and people, his sense of humor, and love of music.
A celebration of Ben’s life will be held at Cote Des Neiges Presbyterian Church, 3435 Côte-Sainte-Catherine, Montreal, on Friday July 31 at 11am, then burial at Notre-Dame-des-Neiges Cemetery.
A line from a song that Ben and Icilda often sang together is “When the roll is called up yonder I’ll be there”. He’s there.
