Died suddenly, in Montreal. Joe was a family man, self-sacrificing and dedicated to his wife of 57 years, Anne, their son, Andrew (Elène Landry) and daughter, Linda, and relatives. He was a generous and big-hearted man who described his personal religion as "communitarian" as he carried out big and small heroic acts to assist others. Joe was born in Budapest, Hungary, where he excelled at sports, including as a member of the Olympic speed skating team. He immigrated to Montreal in 1958. He was a loyal friend and a kind and smiling neighbour who gave candies to everyone he met. As a businessman, he was respected by his customers.
There will be a celebration of Joe's life at a later date. Thank you to the staff of the dialysis unit of MGH for their outstanding care.
Joe will be sorely missed by many.
