"Look at the birds of the sky: they do not sow nor reap, nor gather into the barns; and your heavenly Father feeds them. Aren’t you much better than they are?"

Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Matthew, Chapter 6, verse 26

Gisèle Guay, an admirable, willful, and dedicated woman, was active and present for her loved ones throughout her life. She firmly believed that God took care of her and her family, as He also takes care of the birds, among the smallest creatures of nature. Instead of being anxious for the future, she always worked towards solutions. She died on August 11 at the age of 94.

Each of her eight children will remember her with memories of happiness, laughter, and joy. She trusted her children’s abilities and encouraged each of them in their interests, projects and dreams. She leaves behind Raymond (Anne), Monique (André), Louise (Léo), Danielle (Daniel), Ginette (Bruce), Joanne (Fernand), Richard (Nathalie), and Réjean (Lucyna). She is also survived by her brother Jean-Jacques (Janine), her brother-in-law Pascal, and many nephews and nieces. Her trust in life and “joie de vivre” will be passed on to her 20 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Gisèle was an exceptional woman and all those who crossed her path were touched by her optimism and generosity. She always supported her great love – Réjean - in all his endeavours, combining family, love, and responsibilities.

A funeral service will be held for her at Kane and Fetterly, 5301 Décarie Boulevard, on September 3 at 1:00 pm, followed by a burial of the ashes at Notre-Dame-des-Neiges Cemetery. In the context of Covid-19 and social distancing, the ceremony and burial will take place among family, by invitation only. However, all those who enjoyed her presence will be invited to follow the service online in real-time. We would be happy to receive flowers. However, if you prefer to make a donation, we encourage you to contact the Alzheimer Society.
